Filth flies do not bite, but these garbage flies are a big problem pest as
they are extremely annoying, but more importantly they are capable of transmitting diseases. This poses
as an extreme health issue, especially in food establishments.
These flies primarily breed outdoors (except the fruit fly and other small flies) and bring filthy habits indoors. Pathogenic organisms are picked up by the fly from garbage, sewage, feces,
and other filthy sources and then transferred via their mouthparts, body parts, and feces to human and animal food
causing diseases such as typhoid, paratyphoid, cholera, infantile diarrhea, whipworms, hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms.
Considering the habits of these nasty flies and the potential for disease transmission, it is important
to have a good fly management program. The components of a good fly program can fit any structure, whether
it be restaurants, food processing plants, warehouses, offices, or even your home.
